It is recognized as one of the rarest Atari 2600 console boxes, originating from the earliest 1977 Sunnyvale, California production run. Why it’s rare- The initial box art featured a chess piece, but because a chess game was not available at launch, it was removed to avoid false advertising complaints, making original boxes very short-lived.
